The Inseparables

It is in The Inseparables, 2010, that we find his first base and a work of chiselled metal. The piece shows two screaming heads pressed against each other by two disproportionate hands. For Dyson the scene symbolises the oppression of two beings in today’s society — oppression inflicted by ever more imposing rules that can only be accepted. The compression also reinforces a sense of community. Yet these heads seem held back, then drawn into an upward movement within this metal base, surrounded by metal flames. Dyson here figures a higher power, such as justice, bringing these two beings who have strayed from the established rules back to hell (materialised by the flames) — which is nothing other than their condition on earth.
